Objectives

The Actia Qualima joint technological network has a five-year programme that started in January 2020.  Its aim for this new accreditation period is to develop projects for healthy, microbiologically safe food in a context of changing societal expectations.
Its field of investigation covers a wide range of food categories (refrigerated, dried, ultra-processed, etc.) and various categories of microorganisms: pathogenic bacteria, as well as microorganisms involved in the microbiological safety of food (hygiene indicators, food spoilage flora).

Its work will focus on providing support for food industry players in:
- implementing microbiological Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) procedures;
managing food safety and the microbiological quality of products, particularly in the context of innovation and product development, in light of changing societal expectations.

Actions

Quantitative Risk Analysis
Definition of QRA-based approaches that help to best anticipate microbiological risks, and multi-criteria decision analyses with a view to optimising control measures.
Democratisation and dissemination of these approaches through practical examples.

Support for the implementation of sustainable practices
Definition of the microbiological impact of new practices that contribute to sustainable food and use new processes, new formulas, new packaging, and the adaptation of farming practices.

Expertise and scientific and technical support for public authorities, training for food industry professionals and teachers in centres of higher and vocational education.
Contribution to the transfer of know-how, methods, tools, and guidelines to inspection authorities, federations, food industry organisations and teaching organisations that train future professionals, for a harmonised, shared message.
