Objectives

The objective of the RMT for the 2020 – 2024 period is to provide the food industry the technical keys to meet the following challenges:
- optimize the resource management in the transformation processes, related to the territory, and ensure a sustainable commitment from the producers;
- develop new production and distribution models, as well as a new “product offer”;
- respond to the consumers’ new expectations and behaviors.

Actions

Development of methods and indicators
Development of specific environmental assessment methodologies, suitable to food products and transformation process, from upstream farming to their several potential applications (included biosourced products).
Resourcing Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) databases.
Coupling the environmental assessment to societal, economic, nutritional and/or territorial approaches, environmental externalities and ecosystem services.
Consumer information.

Development of operational tools and methods, from the line 1 outputs, in terms of:
Eco-design, in order to support the food industries’ integration into the Circular Economy.
Global operational performance (sanitary quality, industrial and environmental performance).
Societal performance of companies.

Transfer of the lines 1 and 2 outputs
Implementation of the developed method and tools in the food industries, through collective operations.
Training sessions, directed to industry and education.
