Objectives
The overall objectives of the FutureFoodS Partnership are to mobilize European research and innovation to accelerate the transition of food chains towards circular food systems, operating within the limits of the planet. This includes current types of production, processing, distribution and consumption. A wide range of stakeholders are joining forces to build a sustainable, interconnected and territorialized European food system by 2050. In particular, the first FutureFoodS call for projects aims to tackle the complex challenges that make today's European food systems unsustainable, by mobilizing knowledge, actors and resources through a systems approach to food. The European food systems research and innovation (R&I) community has an important role to play in promoting the design and implementation of a stakeholder approach to food systems.
The guiding elements of FutureFoodS projects are as follows:
- Transformative perspective
- Interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity
- Multi-stakeholder commitment
- Sustainability
