Food for life

Recognising the importance that the food sector, Europe’s top industry, has economically and for society, the Commission lent its support for the creation in July 2005 of a European technological platform that is specific to this sector: “Food for Life”. The platform is coordinated by FoodDrinkEurope.

A genuine place of concertation between the industry, representatives from research and development bodies, public authorities and consumers, Food for Life also acts as an interface with the General Directorate of Research of European Commission.

This platform strives in particular to make the Commission aware of the actual needs that the sector has in research and development, promote the pre-competitive themes developed by its entities and, through the same, direct EC research credits, while still retaining a guarantee of credibility and pertinence.
