Develop tools for manufacturers that allow them to test the effectiveness of innovating products, in a context of prevention of cerebral ageing via nutrition.
Through a coordinated approach developed in animals and in humans, the UMT intends to actively participate in the innovation process in the field of health foods.
This UMT is located in Bordeaux.
The UMT's first project was the modelling in animals of nutritional situations that are commonly found in our societies (excess lipids, insufficient intake of omega 3), in order to study the potential impact of the lipidic intake in the diet in the setting up of neurobiological and cognitive alterations, similar to those described during ageing.
The UMT is currently working on setting up a nutritional intervention in the elderly, for which the results will make it possible to enrich the scientific bases required for establishing nutritional recommendations.
